This page explains what we do with your information when you use this website. We have kept it short and in plain English, because a privacy notice nobody reads protects nobody.

Who we are

Abandon Ship runs boat parties sailing from Albert Pier, St Helier, Jersey. If you want to ask anything about your information, or you want us to delete it, email hello@abandonshipjersey.com and a person will answer.

What we collect, and why

If you send us a message

The contact form asks for your name, your email address and your message. That is sent to us by a service called Web3Forms, which passes it straight to our inbox. We use it only to reply to you. It is not stored in a database on this website, and this website does not keep a copy.

If you join the sailing list

We ask only for your email address. It is stored in Kit, the email service we use to send announcements. You have to click a link in a confirmation email before you are added, so nobody can put you on the list without you agreeing. We use it to tell you when a new sailing is announced, and for nothing else. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and leaving takes one click.

When you browse the site

We use Google Analytics to see roughly how many people visit and which pages they look at. It sets cookies in your browser and collects usage data such as your approximate location, the pages you view and the type of device you are on. We use it to understand what is working on the site. We do not use it to identify you personally.

If you would rather not be counted, you can block cookies in your browser settings, use private browsing, or install Google's own opt out browser add on.

Buying tickets

Tickets are sold through Eventbrite, not through this website. When you click through to buy, you are on Eventbrite's platform and their privacy policy applies to whatever you enter there. No card details are ever entered on this site and none reach our server.

Who else sees your information

Only the services that make the site work. We do not sell your information, we do not trade it, and we do not hand it to anyone for their own marketing.

• Google Analytics counts visits to the site

How long we keep it

Your email address stays on the sailing list until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove it, at which point it goes. Messages you send us are kept in our email while they are still useful for answering you, and are deleted when they are not.

Your rights

You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can withdraw your agreement at any time, and for the mailing list you do not even need to ask us, the unsubscribe link in every email does it immediately. We handle information in line with the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018. If you think we have got something wrong, please tell us first so we can fix it. You also have the right to complain to the Jersey Office of the Information Commissioner.

Changes to this notice

If we change how any of this works, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
